Not Much Happening

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Yeppers, not too much going on this week. Here’s a brief update:

I’m working my way through FFXIII and, while the game is very pretty, I’m not sold on the gameplay as of yet. First, the combat is laughably easy until about chapter 4 and then it seems to ramp up quite a bit. The story is interesting but some of the dialogue is a little cheesy. All in all, I’d say it still has some potential and, since I’m borrowing the game from Rik_Buddie, the only real investment I have to put into it is time.

Let’s see. I’m looking at adding a section to Mind Slate to include short writings and stories. With the ending of my “Baying of the Hounds” campaign, I’m thinking of posting the legends sections on it since I’m rather happy with how they turned out.

In a similar vein, I plan to sit down and read through the new Pathfinder Game Mastering Guide. I figure it’ll help bring a little food for thought before I dive back into another long running campaign.

I’ve also got to set aside a good chunk of time to finish skinning the RPG Roundtable forum. I’ve got the Portal and Gaming Calendar up and I’m satisfied with how they look. Could use some minor tweaking but since I want them to mirror the main forum I should probably return to that first.

Oh, and once again, I’m on the lookout for new players. So, if you know of a few or have a venue for advertising you’d suggest, please let me know.

Well, I ran outta time in my rambling. So it’s off to work!

Have a great day!

Website Live!!!

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Yeppers, that’s right folks! Mind Slate is live!  Go have a gander,

So what will ya find at Mind Slate? There are quite a number of things, here are a few:

  • Linkage Directly to Mental Efflux, my blog that is often imported into Facebook and announced over Twitter
  • Artwork by your’s truly. Five galleries worth! New pieces that didn’t make it into the site redesign will be up soon (once my fingertips heal from all the typing)
  • Numerous written works, including Graduate papers, poetry, short prose (coming soon) and my collection of early theological ramblings. (And yes, the runs on the backdrop do actually spell something!)

In the future I’ll be putting up the short prose section and a section dedicated to role-playing. I’m sure there will be other things as well, but I need to take a bit of a break LOL.

If you happen to come across any broken links or really weird browser issues with the site please let me know. I coded them to allow for flexibility based on preferred text sizes of views and monitor resolutions. That can sometimes be quite tricky and I may not have caught every bug.

Motivation and 60 Degree Weather

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Alright, alright. I’ve finally caught the motivation bug. The Plan? Get Mind Slate up this weekend. The reason? I’m getting into more and more situations where being able to direct people to my graduate papers or artwork would really come in handy.

And, I also think the fact that the weather today is supposed to be awesome has something to do with it. I can open all the windows, air out the department and just let the energy flow.

Now, I just have to get outta bed.

Good Weekend

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Sure, the weekend was no where near long enough. However, it was productive in both relaxation and website progress. This week will be spend dividing time between socializing, web development and getting ready for Saturday’s Pathfinder game.

For those of you who are interested in knowing what the website will contain, I’ve provided a short blurb below. Much of the initial content will be that which appeared on the Bizarre. However, there will be new content added as I create it.

The website will contain the following:

  • Art Galleries: Including both older works as well as more recent endeavors.
  • Written Works: Including poetry, graduate papers, a short story and a few odds and ends.
  • Roleplaying works: Including setting information from previous campaigns, just in case I ever need to bring them back or whatnot. It will also include a link to the RPG Roundtable forum, which sooner or later will aslo be updated.

If you’d like to do a link exchange, which will appear on the blog area, please let me know. I enjoy supporting friends in their interests 🙂

I See You!

No, I’m not being all “Stalky”Well, not entirely…

I’ve installed Google Analytics on both Mental Efflux and RPG Roundtable. I always get a kick out of looking at where visitors are coming from. My host has some software that automatically comes with the hosting, but it’s pretty useless, at least at my level. Google Analytics allows me to see where visitors are coming from, geographically and the software that they are using to see both sights. Don’t worry though, it won’t actually log names or anything, I just like seeing my traffic levels and whatnot.

The cool thing is that I was able to get a counter for the site through a WordPress plugin. Now, I just have to wait for things to start populating!
